Understanding Participation rates in post-16 Mathematics And Physics (the UPMAP Project)

This symposium explores the factors that affect whether or not school students in the UK choose to continue with mathematics or physics once they have the choice. The three papers focus on different approaches we are taking to understand this issue in an ESRC-funded project that employs a variety of techniques in order to address national concerns about the perceived shortage of students taking STEM subjects at Higher Education level.
