Payment of Registration Fees

Full payment or a purchase order must accompany each registration form. If you register before 1st May but do not pay within 4 weeks of the invoice date you will be charged the late registration fee.

Payment is in pounds sterling and can be made by cheque, bank transfer or credit card.

Cheques
Cheques in pounds sterling drawn on a UK bank (your own bank can arrange this for you on request), should be made payable to BERA 2009 and sent to the conference organisers, In Conference, at the address given.

Credit Cards
Credit Cards accepted are VISA and MasterCard only, NOT American Express. The online registration form does not accept payments by debit card.  If you wish to pay by debit card please contact bera@in-conference.org.uk

Invoice
It is your responsibility to pass the invoice, sent to you by e-mail or post, to your finance department and make sure that payment is made to the Conference Organisers within 28 days.

BACS
If you are paying by BACS, a BACS remittance advice form must be sent to In Conference by your finance department.  Please insist that your name and invoice reference number appear on the remittance otherwise the payment will not be credited to your account. University names do not provide enough information for the payment to be traced in a bank account.

If your fees are being paid by your institution, you must confirm with them that your fees have been paid before you arrive at the conference.

IF YOU HAVE AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE IT MUST BE PAID BEFORE THE CONFERENCE. ENTRY TO THE CONFERENCE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED UNLESS FULL PAYMENT HAS BEEN RECEIVED. THIS POLICY WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO IN 2009.

Delegate Cancellation

Notification of cancellations should be sent in writing to the conference organisers (In Conference Ltd). Substitutions can be made at any time. If you have been invoiced but not paid the fees, you are still liable to pay the cancellation charges below.

Bursary Awards

Bursary Award Downloads

Student Bursaries

BERA awards 20 bursaries each year to UK students and occasionally overseas students, to attend the Student and Main Conference. BERA is keen to give financial help to students, registered for Higher Degrees by Research in an educationalfield, who would not otherwise be able to attend the conference. Only full time students are eligible to apply and preference is given to students who present at the Student Conference.

Teacher Bursaries
BERA awards 20 bursaries each year to cover supply costs to release teachers to attend the Student/Main Conference. All teachers from the UK are eligible to apply but preference is given to those presenting a paper.

Hardship Funding
It may be possible to apply for a reduced conference registration rate if you are a part-time student with no other source of income or if you are an individual wanting to attend the conference with a similar case of hardship. Please email bera@in-conference.org.uk providing details of why you are applying for a reduced rate to attend the conference.

Membership of Bera
Non-BERA members will automatically become BERA members when they register for the conference from 01.09.09 until 31.12.10 and will receive the full services of the Association during that period, including the BERA member registration rate at the 2010 conference. Please note you pay the non-member fee for this year’s conference. From January 2011 you will be invited to continue to subscribe to BERA by direct debit at the current annual rate. Members receive the British Educational Research Journal six times a year and Research Intelligence four times a year at no extra cost. More details can be found at www.bera.ac.uk
